The Project

A circus.
Built inside
a library.

The Pratt Contemporaries — a foundation supporting the Enoch Pratt Free Library — had a vision for their annual Black and White Party: transform one of Baltimore's most beloved beaux-arts spaces into a fully immersive circus world. EventPro, a full-service event production company based in Maryland and serving clients across the Mid-Atlantic, delivered every element of that transformation — scenic, audio, video, lighting, custom bars, furnishings, graphics, rigging, and entertainment — for 800 guests in January 2026.

The centerpiece of the production was a custom fabricated, full-scale rotating carousel rigged directly from the ceiling of the Elizabeth K. Moser Central Hall. Built at EventPro's 80,000 sq ft Maryland production facility just outside Washington DC and transported to Baltimore, the structure featured carousel horses, red silk swag drapery, custom marquee-style banner panels, and thousands of Edison string lights — and rotated continuously above the main floor for the duration of the evening.

Below the carousel, the hall was layered with a complete circus environment: custom large-format graphic backdrops in bold circus poster style, an illuminated DJ booth with a carousel horse silhouette, gold bar units with interior crystal detail, and LED video panels running graphic black-and-white imagery. EventPro also sourced and managed the full entertainment roster — aerial lyra and silks artists, stilt walkers, hand balancers, contortionists, and LED performers — who performed throughout the evening across custom-built staging platforms positioned around the hall.

How It Was Built

Production elements and
technical execution

01
Fabricated Rotating Carousel
The anchor of the event was a custom-fabricated, full-scale rotating carousel rigged from the ceiling of the Elizabeth K. Moser Central Hall. Built at EventPro's Maryland production facility and transported to Baltimore, the structure featured carousel horses, red silk swag drapery, custom marquee-style printed banner panels, and Edison string lighting throughout — rotating continuously above 800 guests for the full duration of the evening.
02
Custom Scenic and Environmental Design
Large-format custom printed backdrops in bold circus poster style — sunburst patterns, marquee bulb borders, and oversized framed artwork panels — created a full perimeter environment around the hall. A custom-built illuminated DJ booth featuring a carousel horse silhouette, gold-finished bar units with interior lighting and crystal chandelier detail, and black-and-white stage and dance floor elements completed the ground-level environment.
03
Full Audio, Video, and Lighting Production
The production included a complete A/V and lighting package integrated with the scenic build. LED video panels displaying dramatic black-and-white graphic imagery — zebras, surrealist art, and circus motifs — framed the space. Theatrical wash lighting colored the Central Hall's marble columns in deep magenta and show colors throughout the evening, with lighting truss built directly into the carousel structure overhead.
04
Entertainment Direction and Management
EventPro sourced and managed the complete entertainment roster for the event: aerial lyra artists, aerial silks performers, stilt walkers, hand balancers, contortionists, and LED hula hoop and fan performers. Each act performed simultaneously across the hall on EventPro-built performance platforms, ensuring full coverage and sightlines for 800 guests without clustering at a single stage.
