Wilmer Eye Institute
Centennial Gala

Baltimore Marriott Waterfront  ·  Baltimore, Maryland

The Project

A century of vision.
One night to
honor it.

The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins marked its 100th anniversary with a formal gala at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. EventPro took the event from concept to close. The scope ran from the custom stage set and scenic installations to the printed tablecloths and the centerpieces on every table. W100 / The Centennial was the visual identity that ran through it all.

Guests arrived through a custom illuminated arch hallway: a sequence of arched frames with warm LED perimeters stretching the full length of the corridor, red carpet underfoot, tropical palms on both sides, and violinists in black dresses performing from mirrored pedestals spaced through the tunnel. At the far end, a custom W100 arch step-and-repeat inside an illuminated LED frame stood at the entrance to the ballroom.

Inside, the stage was purpose-built. A W100 diamond-pattern LED backdrop centered the rear of the stage, with LED video walls on either side and large vertical art panels printed with custom eye-themed imagery framing the full set. A branching white tree sculpture and the "Wilmer's Global Reach" illuminated globe anchored the cocktail area. Tables ran custom-printed geometric linens with illuminated acrylic floral runners, and 3D printed centerpieces shaped from the Wilmer Eye Institute building form sat at each setting. When the program ended, Downtown Band Entertainment closed the night as the violinists traded the arch hallway for the dance floor in sequin dresses.

How It Was Built

Production elements and
technical execution

01
Illuminated Arch Hallway and Photo Op Environment
The arrival sequence was built as a scenic installation in its own right. Illuminated arch frames with warm LED perimeters ran the full length of the corridor, framing a red carpet and flanked by tropical palms on both sides. Violinists in black dresses performed from custom mirrored pedestals spaced through the tunnel. At the far end, a custom W100 / The Centennial step-and-repeat inside an illuminated LED frame stood at the entrance to the ballroom.
02
Custom Stage Set and LED Environment
The stage was purpose-built for the gala. A W100 diamond-pattern LED backdrop centered the stage, with two LED video walls carrying Wilmer Eye Institute's Centennial Gala branding and two large vertical art panels with custom eye-themed imagery framing the full set. The same configuration ran through the formal program and into the concert without adjustment. Downtown Band Entertainment performed as the diamond-pattern backdrop shifted color through the night.
03
Centennial Scenic Installations
Three fabricated pieces gave the ballroom its centennial scale. A large branching white tree sculpture lit in blue and cool white anchored the cocktail zone. Beside it stood "Wilmer's Global Reach": a large illuminated globe on a custom white pedestal with a gold placard. On the opposite end of the room, EventPro built the "Wilmer's Rising Professors" display wall, a grid of framed faculty photographs set inside a custom gold LED border frame.
04
Tablescapes, Centerpieces, and Event Identity Print
Custom-printed geometric tablecloths ran across every table, paired with illuminated acrylic floral runners. EventPro's fabrication team 3D printed the centerpieces: an illuminated form of the Wilmer Eye Institute building, set alongside florals in custom graphic-printed box bases. The W100 / The Centennial identity ran through the LED dance floor graphic, the step-and-repeat, and every table in the room. The print program was produced in-house from design through fabrication.
